Once I walked down the street, one of the shops displayed a lovely warm ceramic-led light-up house decoration, which touched my heart. I wanted something like this, but different, like a toy and a Christmas tree decoration, something I could make with my family.
I think Christmas time is the best time to be creative; it is also a wonderful time to get together with your family and make something special, like Christmas home decorations. I know small things make us very happy.
Let’s make a little house cute and easy DIY.
You don’t need to be a professional sewer just; all you need for your project is your desire and a couple of things which you can find in your household or local craft store.
First of all, I start from my inspiration by printing out my project planner,
(free to download my needle-deal free Sewing Project https://needle-deal.com/why-you-need-to-plan-your-sewing-project/ )
printing out all inspirational pictures and writing all notes about my project.
A very important ante for my project is Mood board it’s halps me synthesise my ideas.
If you still feel challenged to organise your ideas look at my previous post

Then you will need
- Wool pressed felt ( two colours up to your preference)
- Threads ( two colours for stitching and embroidery windows)
- Scissors
- Card paper 300 gsm – stabilising walls
- Fusible Fleece (iron on)- stabilising walls
- Toy filling
- One button for decoration
- Needle
Step 1.
Cut out House patterns. I made double layers for stabilising walls.
Point Walls 4ps
Square Walls 4ps
Also, cut-out Card paper Squares 5 by 6 (for stabilising walls)
4ps for walls
1ps for bottom
1ps roof 13 by 5 cm
Step 2.
You need to stabilise with Fusible Fleece 5ps of the hose
Point Walls 2ps
Square Walls 2ps
Bottom 1ps
Step 3.
After stabilising the walls, add some small details to the house, like windows and a door. Feel free to add any size you would like.
Step 4.
For a more realistic look, add very simple embroidery window stitches.
Step 5.
Stich the walls and bottom with blanket stitch.
Step 6.
Cut out five card paper squares 4 ps for the walls size 5 by 6 cm and 1 ps for the bottom size 5 by 5 cm. You would need the paper squares to stabilise the house’s shape and fix the paper squares inside the house.
Step 7.
The last step it’s attaching the roof to the house, cutting out a piece of fabric 5 cm by 13 cm (according to my measurements of the house). You can always resize the roof if it ‘s not fit your measurements. Sew one side of the house and leave one side of the roof open for filling after you have done house filling, close it up with blanket stitch.
Once the little house is done, so you can decorate your home or Christmas tree or leave it like a toy for kids.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
